Turkish Cypriot parliament speaker: Omirou doesn't have authority to speak about TRNC

LEFKOSA (A.A) - October 4, 2011 - Parliament Speaker Hasan Bozer of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Tuesday that Greek Cypriot administration's parliament speaker Yiannakis Omirou did not have the right and authority to speak about TRNC.
Bozer reacted to the statements of Omirou who said that Turkish Cypriots could enjoy the benefits of natural richness of the island only if TRNC was dissolved.
Bozer said that the statement of Omirou on October 2, was a continuation of Greek Cypriots' habit of seizing the rights of Turkish Cypriots, which was unacceptable.
Noting that Greek Cypriots, with the same mentality of seizing the rights, removed Turkish Cypriots from Cyprus Republic which had been jointly founded in 1964, Bozer said that Turkish Cypriots, as a stance against all those fait accompli and attitude, declared TRNC with people's will in 1983, and a democratic state based on human rights and supremacy of law was founded.
With this form, TRNC is more legal and legitimate than so-called 'Cyprus Republic' which is illegal, thus, Omirou does not have the right and authority to speak about TRNC, added Bozer.
