Turkish deputy premier to address OECD council

PARIS (A.A) - October 12, 2011 - Turkish Deputy Premier Ali Babacan will deliver a speech in a special session of the Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD) Council in Paris on Thursday.
Babacan will assess recent economic developments in Turkey as well as global economic crisis.
He will also attend G-20 finance and economy ministers' meeting in Paris on October 14 and 15.
Preparations for G-20 summit which will take place in Cannes on November 2 and 3, global economic crisis and debt problems of European banks will be high on the agenda of the meeting.
The mission of OECD is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well-being of people around the world.
The OECD provides a forum in which governments can work together to share experiences and seek solutions to common problems. It works with governments to understand what drives economic, social and environmental change. OECD measures productivity and global flows of trade and investment; analyses and compares data to predict future trends. It sets international standards on a wide range of things, from agriculture and tax to the safety of chemicals.
