Turkish deputy premier says transformation should be made according to democratic methods
PRISTINA (A.A) - August 11, 2011 - Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said on Thursday that transformations should definitely be made according to democratic methods.
"Clash, bloodshed and confrontation with people should not be used as a method," Arinc told a joint news conference with Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Hajredin Kuci.
When asked, "tanks withdrew from Hama following the visit of Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu. What kind of a message was relayed to Syria?", Arinc said, "Turkey's stance on the matter is obvious. Weapons and tanks should not be used in a country against people who hold demonstration to voice their demands."
"Separately, we are in Ramadan. Ramadan is a holy month not only for Muslims but also for all religions. Peace, tolerance, sincerity and friendship come forefront," Arinc said, "it is extremely saddening that Muslims see tanks and weapons particularly in this month. Ultimate care should be shown to the demands of people, and their demands should be met."
Arinc said Turkey felt concern over escalation of tension and developments which all might lead to turmoil in Syria.
