Turkish govt. spokesman says Gadhafi must surrender


ANKARA (A.A) - August 22, 2011 - Turkish government spokesman said on Monday that Turkey expected Moammar Gadhafi to surrender.
After the meeting of the Council of Ministers, Government Spokesman and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc said regarding the recent developments in Libya that Gadhafi must surrender for a successful transition process in the country.
Interim Transitional National Council forces' taking control of Tripoli was a historic turning point for fulfillment of Libyan people's rightful demands, he said.
Arinc said that Turkey was pleased that Libyan people would reach freedom, justice and democracy. Taking necessary steps was of great importance for a peaceful process and constitutional democracy, he said. "Turkey always highlighted that preservation of unity and sovereignty is of great importance at every stage of political transformation process in Libya," he said.
Turkey fully believed that the Libyan Interim Transitional National Council headed by Mustafa Abdul Jalil would complete the process successfully, he said.
Arinc added that Turkey would keep assisting the council in its efforts for fulfillment of demands of Libyan people.
