Turkish gvt reaffirms determination to implement unity project, and combat terrorism
ANKARA (A.A) - July 18, 2011 - Turkish government spokesperson reaffirmed on Monday their determination to continue implementing the national unity and solidarity project and counter terrorism at the same time.
Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, also the government spokesperson, said that the government would give up neither its national unity or solidarity project nor its fight against terrorism.
"We will not give up our democratization and freedom steps either," Arinc told reporters after the cabinet meeting in Ankara.
Arinc's remarks came after last week's terrorist attack that killed 13 soldiers in Silvan town of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir.
Deputy Prime Minister Arinc said when the government was broadening freedoms and improving democratization, it aimed to lift all obstacles before identities.
"Our democracy will improve and our freedoms will be broadened, but at the same time we will go on with our fight against terrorism," he said.
On Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's scheduled visit to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Arinc said Erdogan would make his first abroad visit to TRNC after the establishment of the new government.
Arinc also said this visit was important as it would take place on the anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.
Erdogan will visit TRNC on July 19 and 20 on occasion of the Peace and Freedom Day of TRNC.
Prime Minister Erdogan is expected to meet with TRNC President Dervis Eroglu, Prime Minister Irsen Kucuk and other Turkish Cypriot officials during his visit.
