Turkish holding to enter aviation industry with a Chinese aviation company
SHANGHAI (A.A) - 21.04.2011 - Turkey's Mermerler Holding has agreed with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) to sell aircraft and helicopters in Iran, Iraq and other Middle Eastern countries.
Yuksel Mermer, the chairman of Mermerler Holding's Executive Board, said Thursday that the holding was negotiating with COMAC for three years.
"With this cooperation, we can also sell some aircraft parts produced in Turkey to COMAC," Mermer told reporters on the sidelines of the 14th Shanghai International Automotive Fair.
Mermer said COMAC executives would visit Turkey in the first week of May.
A state-owned company, COMAC functions as the main vehicle in implementing large passenger aircraft programs in China. It is also mandated with the overall planning of developing trunk liner and regional jet programs and realizing the industrialization of civil aircraft in China. COMAC is engaged in the research, manufacture and flight tests of civil aircraft and related businesses such as marketing, servicing, leasing and operations of civil aircraft.
Moreover, Mermer said Chinese Chery automotive company's commercial vehicles would enter Turkish market at the end of 2011.
Mermerler Holding is Chery's distributor in Turkey.
Mermer also said the holding had launched negotiations with five other automotive companies to become distributor in Turkey, and it had agreed with two of them.
