NEW YORK (A.A) - 24.03.2011 - Turkish Parliament Speaker Mehmet Ali Sahin received on Wednesday the representatives of Meskhetian Turks and Assyrian citizens in New York.
Speaking to reporters while receiving the representatives at the Turkish House (Turkevi), Sahin said that the Republic of Turkey was the state of all of its citizens.
It makes no difference for the Republic of Turkey when it comes to the religion and race of its citizens. The Republic of Turkey is a secular one and is neutral vis-a-vis religions and beliefs, Sahin said.
Meanwhile, Turkey's Ambassador in Washington Namik Tan hosted a reception for Sahin at New York's Marriott Marquis Hotel on Wednesday evening.
During the reception, Sahin met with American Turks living in New York and the surrounding region.
