Turkish planes and troops never to bomb Libya, Turkish PM says

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 24.03.2011 - Turkey's prime minister said on Thursday that seeing democracy as an inherited right in some places in the world but seeing it as an early right in some other regions was an obvious discrimination.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan referred to incidents in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, and compared the world perspective on democracy.
"Seeing democracy as an inherited right for certain geographies and countries, but seeing it as an early right in some other countries or regions is an obvious discrimination," Erdogan said during a gender equality meeting in Istanbul.
Erdogan said on one hand Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain and Libya were experiencing turmoil, on the other hand Israel started to hit Gaza and Palestine again and women, children and people were dying there.
"Turkish planes and Turkish troops will never be planes bombing Libya and shooting bullets on our brothers in Libya," Erdogan said.
Erdogan said Turkey did not want what had experienced in Iraq to be experienced in Libya.
"After this point, we want every one to look at Libya from a conscientious perspective, not from oil perspective and we are exerting intense efforts to achieve this," he said.
Moreover, Erdogan said the European Union (EU) had never behave sincerely to Turkey, however Turkey continued its journey on the road to the union with patience.
Erdogan said Turkey was fulfilling requirements of the EU acquis, and there were many countries within the EU that had not caught up the same standards with Turkey.
"Turkey is more developed than many of these countries, and has overtaken many countries in regard to Copenhagen political criteria and Maastricht economic criteria," he said.
Erdogan also said Turkey was overwhelmingly a Muslim country, and he was telling EU members that they had turned the union into a Christian club.
