Turkish premier attends opening ceremony of Irbil airport
IRBIL (A.A) - 29.03.2011 - Turkish Prime Minister on Tuesday addressed the inauguration ceremony an international airport in the northern Iraqi city of Irbil.
"This airport will bring closer Turkey and the world with Iraq and this beautiful region. The International Irbil Airport is one of the biggest investments in this region," Erdogan told the ceremony.
Erdogan said the airport has a capacity to serve 2.75 million passengers annually and its 4.5 km runway was the seventh longest in the world.
The Turkish premier also said Turkey's national air carrier, the Turkish Airlines, was set to launch direct flights to Irbil as of April 14.
