Turkish premier says Turkey does not implement election budget
ANKARA (A.A) - 30.03.2011 - Turkey's prime minister said on Wednesday that Turkey was not implementing an election budget.
Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his government had not implemented an election budget in three elections, and two referenda that took place during its term in office.
"We are assuming the same attitude towards populism. We have promised not to make populism and we are behind our word," Erdogan told a ceremony in Ankara in which solid waste collectors were distributed.
Erdogan said his government was making concrete environmental investments, and enumerated some of them as solid waste storage facilities, blue flag investments and forestation.
The number of solid waste storage facilities has risen to 59 in Turkey. The number of coasts with blue flags has been up to 337.
Moreover, Turkey's forested area has reached 21.5 million hectares, making Turkey among the top three countries in the world in regard to forestation in 2009.
