Turkish president meets Somali president

ISTANBUL (A.A) - August 17, 2011 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday that 150 million USD of donation had been collected in campaigns launched in Turkey to assist famine and drought-hit Somalia and Africa.
Gul met President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed of Somalia in Istanbul.
Referring to meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee, which will discuss the disaster in Africa and Somalia, Gul said, "representatives and ministers of many countries will attend the meeting. I believe that the sufferings will be relieved with the contributions of the Islam world."
