Turkish president says relations with Asia Pacific important for Turkey
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 08.03.2011 - Turkish President Abdullah Gul on Tuesday addressed a business forum meeting in Istanbul, saying Turkey attached special importance to Asia Pacific region.
"Developing and strengthening ties with Asia Pacific countries is one of the main priorities of the Turkish foreign policy," Gul told the 25th Conference of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) held at Istanbul's Ciragan Palace.
Gul said Turkey's economy was vibrant with a young and educated population, urging Asia Pacific countries to make investments in Turkey.
"An office you would open in Turkey or a business area you would engage in would present a lucrative market not only in Turkey but in the European Union and beyond," Gul said.
The Turkish president said EU candidate Turkey offered "great opportunities for both the East and the West with its rapid economic growth and minimum risks."
Gul said Turkey had opened new representations in Asia Pacific region and increased the number of its permanent representations there, with more direct flights by the Turkish Airlines, Turkey's flag carrier air company.
