Two Iranian Navy Ships Carry Message Of Peace To Regional Countries

Tehran, July 1, IRNA – Two Iranian destroyers carrying message of peace and friendship for Russia and the Caspian Sea littoral states have berthed at Astrakhan port in Russia. Iranˈs military attaché to Russia colonel Soleiman Adeli said that Iranian Navy destroyers Joshan and Paykan are scheduled to dock at Astrakhan port in Russia for four days. This is the first visit of Iranian ships to Russia with the aim of consolidation of ties between the two countries, he said. Iranian Navy officials are willing to visit and exchange views with their Russian counterparts on ways to develop cooperation between the two nations. He said that Iran and Russia believe that the security of the Caspian Sea should be maintained by regional countries as presence of aliens will lead to tension and discord. Iran and Russia have common security policy for the Caspian Sea, he said adding that Tehran and Moscow regard the Caspian Sea as Sea of peace and friendship./end
