UAE calls for ensuring global support to the people and the Government of Mali to overcome crisis

New York: The UAE has called on the international community to work collectively to ensure effective support for the people and the Government of the Republic of Mali, on the sidelines of the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly. During a meeting of the Mali Contact Group, Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Secretary of State for International Organisation Affairs, stated that the UAE is following with interest the developments of the situation in Mali with the aim of providing suitable assistance to the country. He also added that during his participation in the meeting of the Working Group of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the UAE welcomed the positive developments achieved by the election of Ibrahim Boubacar Keita as President of the country in a transparent electoral process. The Assistant Secretary of State for International Organisation Affairs hailed the efforts Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, and Djibril Yip?n? Bassol?, Special Envoy of the Organisation and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso, and the efforts of the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States and related international efforts. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
