UAE Ministry of Interior and Korean National Police Agency Sign a Memorandum of Understanding for Security Cooperation

ABU DHABI, 25th February, 2016 (WAM) - The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) in the fields of security and counterterrorism.
The MoU was signed at the MoI headquarters by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, and Kang Sin-Myeong, the National Police Commissioner of the Republic of Korea.
The MoU enhances cooperation between both parties to prevent and combat crimes, especially in the fields of legislation, all types of organised crime, and corruption. The fields also extend to combating human trafficking, forgery and counterfeiting, economic crimes and drugs. The memorandum also determines the cooperation mechanism between both countries in these areas.
Lt. General Al Sha’far said that the MoU stresses the genuine desire of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to increase international cooperation to reduce all types of crimes. He pointed out that this MoU is similar to other MoUs signed with various other countries.
Sin-Myeong explained from his side that this MoU is an important step towards enhancing cooperation between Korea and the UAE to combat terrorism and international crimes.
