UK needs to provide faster visas for Turkish businesspeople, Lord Green says

LONDON (A.A) - 14.04.2011 - United Kingdom's Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Stephen Green, said Thursday that they needed to provide faster visas to Turkish businesspeople.
Speaking to the AA, Green said that many British companies from various sectors were interested in Turkey.
Many of our sectors look at the Turkish economy as an opportunity, Green said.
Turkey's connections with the east, west, north and south show the dynamism of the Turkish economy. The British business world, no doubt, wants to be a part of the Turkish economy, Green said.
Asked if he thought that Turkey's being a non-European Union (EU) member posed an obstacle in developing commercial relations, Lord Green said that Turkey's non-membership did not stop commercial relations.
The EU and Turkey has established many connections. More and more British companies are interested in Turkey and more Turkish companies want to make investments in the United Kingdom. However, in the long term, we want to see Turkey as a member of the EU, Green also said.
The trade volume between Turkey and the UK is nine billion USD. The two countries want to double this figure in the next five years.
