UNESCO Supports Construction Of Sports For All Development Center In Iran

Tehran, Dec 9, IRNA – Minister of Youth and Sports Mahmoud Gudarzi said on Sunday that the UNESCO will help Iran build a Sports for All development center. In a meeting with Secretary General of the International Sport for All Federation (FISpT), Wolfgang Baumann, and Head of the FISpT, Ju-Ho Chang, in Tehran on Sunday, Gudarzi said Iranian officials are mainly focusing on generalization of sports in Iran. “We welcome any plan that will help develop sports for all,” he added. “The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches high importance to sports for all and we welcome any idea that will lead to generalization of sports in the country.” He said that in turn, Iran will help the world publicize sports. Ju-Ho Chang referred to Iran's performance with regards to development of public sports, thanking Iranian officials to that end. Meanwhile, Baumann said during post-Islamic Revolution era, the Iranian people have shown unprecedented interest in public sports and Iran’s support for development of public is praiseworthy. He highlighted significance of both professional and championship sports, saying, “Now, it is clear to everybody worldwide that public sports has a special position.” He lauded Iran’s initiative of public rally, saying it serves as a model in education of public sports./end
