U.S. plotted Korean peninsula crisis: Iranian general

TEHRAN,April 16(MNA) – A senior Iranian military official said on Monday that the United States orchestrated the nuclear crisis on the Korean peninsula. Hossein Salami, the deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, said the U.S. triggered this crisis to claim that certain countries are not eligible to have access to nuclear know-how. “The U.S. is seeking to inculcate this idea in the world that if certain countries gain access to nuclear knowledge, they will immediately go towards developing nuclear weapons,” Salami told reporters on Monday. Salami added that the U.S. is making efforts to halt countries’ scientific progress. Elsewhere, he commented on the recent remarks by the Supreme Leader in which he had said that in case Israel initiates the slightest military adventure against Iran, it will face sever response. What the Supreme Leader said truly portraits the potential of Iran’s defense power which can be fully realized, he noted. Ayatollah Khamenei said in a speech on March 21, “Sometimes leaders of the Zionist regime threaten us; threaten a military strike. But I think they know – and if they do not know they should be aware – if they make the slightest mistake, the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground.”
