BANGKOK, Dec 15 (TNA) -- Joseph Yun, the United States Special Representative for North Korea Policy, met Deputy Foreign Minister Virasakdi Futrakul to emphasise the US stance to solve conflicts in the Korean Peninsula with peaceful solutions.
Busadee Santipitaks, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said that in the meeting Mr Yun expressed gratitude towards Thailand for following a relevant resolution of the United Nations on North Korea and both sides exchanged opinions on actions concerning situations in the Korean Peninsula.
According to Ms Busadee, Mr Virasakdi underlined Thailand’s support for the restoration of peace in the Korean Peninsula. He also confirmed that Thailand strictly followed the United Nations Security Council’s resolution to punish and pressure North Korea to return to negotiation and clear nuclear weapons from the Korean Peninsula for the sake of regional peace and security.
