U.S. State Departmen official in Turkey for talking about Syria

ANKARA (A.A) - August 8, 2011 - Fred Hof, an official from the U.S. Department of State for Syria, has held talks with Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials. 
Hof is currently on a tour to the regional countries. 
He met Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry Halit Cevik on recent developments in Syria and the region. 
It was revealed that Hof's visit was not related with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu's upcoming visit to Syria. 
Earlier, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Foreign Minister Davutoglu would travel to Syria on August 9. "Davutoglu will hold necessary meetings there, and convey our messages in a determined way," Erdogan said.
