VICE MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE VISITS GERMANY

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A delegation headed by Ts.Tuvaan, the Vice Minister of Industry and Agriculture, paid a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) on January 12-19, 2014. The delegation attended the Berlin International Green Week international trade fair and 6th Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit by invitation of Germany’s Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture. They also participated in a regular board committee meeting of the Mongolia-Germany joint project on model farming called "Sustainable land farming". During the Berlin International Green Week, Mr Tuvaan was received by Mr Hans-Peter Friedrich, the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture; then met with Mr Peter Bleser, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry to exchange views on the bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sphere. They also touched upon issues of an implementation of the joint project, its results and ways of expanding it by breeding high-productive cattle in order to improve the gene pool of Mongolian livestock. In addition, the Vice Minister held a meeting with Mr Bernard Lehmann, the State Secretary for the Switzerland’s Ministry of Agriculture, to discuss a cooperation in developing pasture animal husbandry through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). On January 17, the Vice Minister ran a dialogue with Mr Marcelo Ferraz, the State Secretary of Brazil’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The sides discussed ways of intensifying the bilateral memorandum between the Ministries of Agriculture, of widening the cooperation in supporting animal husbandry, producing bio-gas and conducting joint researches. After this, Mr Tuvaan was received by Mr Yoshimasa Hayashi, Japan’s Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, during a reception given by the Japanese Embassy in Germany. He granted Mr Hayashi an invitation for the 32nd FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific which willl run this July in Ulaanbaatar. On January 18, the Vice Minister Mr Tuvaan participated in the 6thn Berlin Agriculture Ministers' Summit together with Agricultural Ministers of 77 countries. The participants shared opinions under a theme "Empowering Agriculture: Fostering Resilience-Securing Food and Nutrition". Our delegation also legged the Training Center of Land Farming Techniques in Nienburg city.
