West intends to create rift among regional states, Iran says

TEHRAN, May 31(MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that the Western powers are hatching some plots to create discords among regional countries and hinder the popular movements in the region. Mehmanparast made the remarks during a meeting with a number of visiting Egyptian journalists in Tehran on Wednesday. Commenting on the position of Iran and Egypt in the Muslim world and their historical affinities, Mehmanparast said the Egyptian and Iranian governments can also prepare the ground for the promotion of ties. Elsewhere in his remarks, he said that the Islamic Awakening wave rolling across the Middle East and North Africa region has been a source of concern for the Zionist regime and its supporters.
