Woman Politician Shot Dead In NW Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 17, IRNA – A women politician belonging to Awami National Party (ANP), was shot dead by some unidentified people in northwestern city of Peshawar early Saturday, police said. Police said Ms Najma Hanif was shot dead in her house in Hayatabad area of Peshawar. Her husband, Mohammad Hanif, was killed in a bomb blast in Peshawar about a year ago. Police said the ANP leader had not informed the authorities about any threat to her life. In-charge of police unit at Hyatabad Medical Complex, Ismail khan told media that Najma Hanif was hit in the head and face and was received dead at the hospital. She was a candidate for reserved seats for women in the May elections./end
