World Automakers Ready To Invest In Iran: Official

Tehran, Dec 1, IRNA – After sanctions on Iran’s auto industry are lifted in the wake of Iran-5+1 Group deal in Geneva, automakers from across the world have announced their preparedness to invest in the Iranian auto industry. Addressing the International Conference on Auto Industry Saturday, Mohsen Salehi-Nia added that in addition to Peugeot and Renault, a number of automakers and spare parts manufacturers are eager to attend the Iranian market. Following the deal clinched by Iran and 5+1 Group in the Swiss city of Geneva, grounds are prepared for mutual cooperation between the Iranian and foreign automakers, he said. Salehi-Nia further noted that certain firms have earlier been active in Iran’s auto-making sector, and now they are interested in expanding their cooperation with the country. The official hoped that presence of foreign automakers in Iran’s market will pave the way for increased production of automobiles in the country./end
