World should be enlightened about Iranians’ peace-loving nature: Iran`s Rohani

TEHRAN,March 17(MNA) – Hassan Rohani, who has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the June 14 presidential election, said the world’s people should be enlightened about the peace-loving nature of the Iranian people. The director of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council made the remarks in a meeting with a number of political activists in Tehran on Saturday. “Illegal, unfair, and unprecedented sanctions have been imposed on Iran. Although these sanctions have helped some industries of the country thrive, they have put the people’s lives under great pressure,” he said, adding, “The world should be further enlightened about the peace-loving nature of the Iranian people and the system’s will to keep its nuclear activities peaceful.” “Undoubtedly, the easing of sanctions could create a better atmosphere for the country’s development,” said Rohani, the Supreme Leader’s representative at Supreme National Security Council, whose secretary is Iran’s chief nuclear negotiator. Commenting on the presidential election, he said that the Iranian people regarded the election as a turning point and hoped that it would provide an opportunity for a change. “If the people have widespread and serious participation in the election, a different situation for the country will certainly arise, and there will be a better opportunity to resolve problems,” he said. In addition, Rohani said, “To solve the country’s problems, we need a president who has the required capability and political credibility to form an efficient and extra-factional government with the help of competent managers.”
