Zasypkin: We are present in Syria only to counter terrorism

NNA - Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zasypkin, said on Sunday that the presence of Russians in Syria aims at fighting terrorism. The Russian Ambassador's stance came during a meeting organized by the Cultural Movement in Lebanon. Zasypkin said that the Russian intervention in Syria was in response to a request from the Syrian authorities, noting that the objective of this intervention was to fight terrorism. "We are ready to join forces with all those who want to cooperate with us and we are ready to face all the challenges," he added. Concerning the situation in occupied Palestine, Zasypkin stressed the need for a unified Arab and Palestinian position. As for the situation in Lebanon, the diplomat said that the situation was good, adding that the solutions to crucial issues were available.
