In a presidential statement, the President affirmed, "Iraq and Iran are neighboring countries, and they have historical relations and common bonds, as they can contribute to strengthening security and stability in the region, and encouraging reliance on dialogue and calm to solve problems in regional and international issues." He pointed out that consolidating security requires the cooperation of all countries in the region. ".
He pointed out, "The need for coordination and consultation on issues of common interest and in a way that serves the interests of the Iraqi and Iranian peoples and other peoples of the region, noting the importance of communication and exchanging views and ideas between officials of the two countries to confront the challenges of terrorism and extremism."
Rashid praised "the positions of the Islamic Republic and its standing by the Iraqi people in confronting the dictatorial policies of the former regime and supporting the Kurds after they were subjected to the massacre of Halabja and Anfal and what followed in the war against the terrorist organizations of ISIS."
For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister affirmed, "Iran's position in support of Iraq's efforts to consolidate its security and stability, and its desire to strengthen joint relations between the two countries and perpetuate the bonds of the historical relationship between the two neighboring peoples, in a way that serves cooperation and joint coordination."
The Iranian minister pointed out that "one of our country's concerns is confronting sandstorms, and Iran is expected to hold a ministerial conference next summer to discuss ways to confront sandstorms."
