Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, March 22 (QNA) - In their Wednesday editorials, Qatari newspapers emphasized the State of Qatar's policy of openness, cooperation, and participation towards various countries and peoples, especially African countries, in which Qatar has developed close strategic relations based on joint cooperation and solidarity. In this regard, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met with HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame at Sheikh Abdullah Bin Jassim Majlis at the Amiri Diwan, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them in various fields of cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

    The newspapers stressed that the working visit of the Rwandan President to Doha reflects the State of Qatar's distinguished position worldwide through receiving heads of states wishing to establish strategic cooperation relations with Qatar in various fields. The honorable visit is an indication of the strength of relations between Doha and Kigali, reflecting the desire and keenness of the leadership of the two countries to strengthen and develop them in various fields for the benefit of the two countries and their peoples.

    Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that the existing relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda are characterized by strength and common keenness to develop them in various fields to achieve partnership and advance bilateral cooperation in all fields.

  The talks of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame on Tuesday affirmed the depth of cooperation, coordination, and the common desire to advance, support and enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields of cooperation, especially in economy and investment, the paper added.

    The newspaper pointed out that these relations have already witnessed prominent milestones that confirmed the desire of the two countries to strengthen and develop them. Both countries continuously work to build an exemplary partnership and cooperate on many issues to serve their common interests through the development of economic and trade cooperation, especially since Rwanda is considered one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa.

    In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the Republic of Rwanda offers a prosperous and stable investment system in the textiles, clothing, leather, agriculture, livestock, industry, tourism, information, and communication technology, and medical industries in addition to the services sector providing a significant contribution to the GDP, all of which are important factors that open doors for more cooperation between our two countries and peoples, which has witnessed great prosperity and growth through a set of agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) covering the political, diplomatic, economic, commercial, agricultural, cultural, sports, investment sectors and cooperation in the aviation field.

    For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that the relations between the State of Qatar and the friendly Republic of Rwanda are characterized by steady development at all levels. Qatari-Rwandan relations have made advanced strides towards a strategic partnership, thanks to political will and mutual visits at the highest level, the latest of which was HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame's working visit on Tuesday to Doha and his talks with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them in various fields of cooperation, especially in the economic and investment fields, and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.

    The newspaper referred to HE President of the friendly Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame's meeting with HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, which also comes in the context of the strong and distinguished relations that bind the two friendly countries and peoples.

    Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the Qatari-Rwandan relations are an example of Qatar's developed relations with African countries. Doha is keen to support all international endeavors that contribute to achieving security, stability, and development in the African continent, which appears in the nature of its relations. African countries and institutions show great appreciation for its role in hosting, supporting, and following up on the outcomes of the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, which was held recently in Doha.

Under the headline "Qatar and Rwanda.. Strategic Partnership", Qatari daily Al-Raya believed that the State of Qatar is adopting an openness policy towards various sisterly and friendly countries, particularly the African countries with which the State of Qatar is linked by strong strategic relations based on joint cooperation and solidarity in regional and international issues.

                The State of Qatar also seeks to strengthening the investment relations to achieve common interests of Qatar and the African countries, at the forefront the Republic of Rwanda, Al-Raya said.

                The State of Qatar is proud of its strong relations with friendly Rwanda, and despite the newly established diplomatic relations, there have been a significant visit exchange between the two countries' leaderships, the paper added.

                Al-Raya pointed to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting with HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame at Sheikh Abdullah Bin Jassim Majlis at the Amiri Diwan on Tuesday.                 The working visit of HE the Rwandan President reflects the distinguished position of the State of Qatar around the world, Al-Raya stressed, pointing to the great diplomatic movement in the State reflected in the visits of heads of countries wishing to establish strategic cooperation relations with Qatar in various fields.

                The visit of HE the Rwandan President emphasizes the strength of relations between Doha and Kigali, and the keenness of both leaderships to promote and strengthen the relations and cooperation in various fields, to serve the interests of the two countries and the two friendly people, Al-Raya added.

                The visit will contribute to advancing the bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in the commercial, economic, financial and investment sectors, and reflects the Qatari diplomacy's active and constant interaction with various regional and international parties, and the great importance that Qatar attaches to its relations with various countries of the African continent and its keenness on developing them in all sectors, Al-Raya concluded.

                Meanwhile, Al-Arab newspaper said that the visit of HE President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame to Doha comes in the context of the strong and distinguished relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda and the two friendly people, pointing to his meeting with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani which discussed the bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them in various fields of cooperation, especially in economy and investment.

                In its editorial titled "Exemplary Partnership", the paper noted that the visit is seen as a good sign of the strength of relations between Doha and Kigali, reflecting the aspiration and keenness of the leadership in both countries to boost, strengthen, and develop them in all fields to serve the interests of both countries and their peoples.

                The visit and the talks held between the two sides form a chance to strengthen the bonds between the two sides, discuss various partnership aspects, and contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially trade, economic, financial, and investment aspects, the paper added.

                The relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda have witnessed steady growth since establishing the diplomatic relations in 2017. Since then, the leaders of the two countries have met regularly, and the exchanged high-level visits between the two sides have contributed to boosting joint cooperation in various vital fields and enhancing the partnership between the two countries. In this regard, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani visited Rwanda in April 2019 and made another visit in June 2022 to participate in the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali. Meanwhile, HE President of the Republic of Rwanda paid several visits to Doha in February 2022, October 2021, October 2019, December 2019, and November 2018, the paper noted.

                Despite the novelty of the relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Rwanda, it can be described as ambitious and promising and reflects the determination of both sides to strengthen and enhance them in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly countries and peoples. The two countries are continuously working on building exemplary partnerships between them and cooperating on many issues to serve their interests and those of others, Al-Arab concluded.

                On the other hand, English newspaper The Peninsula said that ministries and other organizations have taken many steps for the benefit of people during the holy month of Ramadan.

                In its editorial titled "Special Measures for Ramadan", The Peninsula noted that the General Endowments Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs recently announced that they will serve 10,000 Iftar meals daily through their tents which will be set up in densely populated areas across the country. The Ministry has also lined up thousands of religious activities, including religious lectures and cultural competitions for all age groups.

                The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has launched several initiatives to curb the price hike of food commodities during Ramadan. MoCI has deployed inspectors for checking food outlets across the country to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws. The Ministry has also launched an initiative to provide over 900 commodities at discounted prices in coordination with major sales outlets, the paper added.

                Qatar has always taken measures to protect the interest of the consumers by introducing various measures like ensuring a proper supply chain, publishing price bulletins, and market inspections to curb practices like hoarding, which is the cause of steep inflation in many countries, the paper stressed.

                In their regular weekly meeting, the Shura Council praised the government’s policies to address inflation by implementing measures that contributed to reducing the impact and made several recommendations to address the issue. The Shura Council members called on authorities to monitor the prices by intensifying their campaigns, encouraging free competition and preventing monopoly, providing all means of support for the local products and making them available on a bigger scale in the local market, The Peninsula noted.
