Doha, June 02 (QNA) - In their editorials on Friday, the Qatari newspapers commended the election of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO) of the State of Qatar as Chair of the Board at its 153rd session for one year, stressing that this step represents an acknowledgment by Member States of Qatar's pioneering role at the international level and its strong support for WHO to perform its mission of promoting health for all. Thanks to the support and attention of the state under the leadership of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the State of Qatar has made qualitative leaps in the health sector by establishing a global-leading health system that won several international awards in the health and medical fields, the papers pointed out. In its editorial on Friday titled "Global recognition of Qatar's health leadership," Al Raya newspaper that Qatar has been strongly involved in global efforts to provide health for all and contributed to the eradication of incurable diseases and the achievement of the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals concerned with health. The newspaper said that in recognition of Qatar's pioneering roles in promoting global health, its generous donations during the COVID-19 crisis, and its keenness to provide vaccines to poor and fragile societies and support the fair distribution of vaccines, the State of Qatar was elected the Chair of the 153rd WHO Executive Council for a year. The paper added that the distinguished Qatari efforts and initiatives around the world have never been interrupted, especially through the support of United Nations organizations to carry out their roles to the fullest extent at various levels, particularly WHO. Al Raya underlined that Qatar plays a fundamental and pioneering role in promoting health globally through its tireless efforts to provide healthcare for all and its support for all means to eliminate infectious diseases and provide treatments for those who need them. Al Watan underscored that the State of Qatar's election as the Chair of the 153rd WHO Executive Council for a year is an acknowledgment by member states of Qatar's pioneering role at the international level and its strong support for the WHO to perform its tasks of promoting health and wellness for all. In its editorial on Friday titled "A pioneering role," the newspaper indicated that the WHO Assembly elected Qatar, along with ten new members, to the membership of the 34-member Executive Council. The paper explained that the WHO Executive Council is responsible for implementing the WHO Assembly decisions and enforcing its policies, providing advice, and generally facilitating its work. 

In its editorial on Friday titled "Qatar leads global health," Al Sharq underlined that the election of Qatar as Chair of the WHO Executive Council represents a recognition of its role at the international level and an affirmation of its strong support for the WHO to carry out its tasks of promoting health and wellness for all the people of the world. The newspaper said that Qatar's presidency of the WHO Executive Council confirms the state's commitment to the vision of health for all, as Qatar's health sector provides high-quality medical services to all citizens and residents to ensure that the people of Qatar live healthy, in addition to the continuous support provided by the state to the WHO and several countries around the world. In its editorial on Friday titled "Qatar's tech-driven education," the English-language newspaper The Peninsula noted that the State of Qatar is committed to a modern education curriculum that promotes research, scientific and technological awareness, and adaptability with a cultural and moral balance. The paper explained that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has embarked on an initiative to develop a robust artificial intelligence (AI) strategy towards integrating AI into the educational sector. This project revolves around facilitating seamless access and optimal utilization of big data to streamline and regulate educational processes. The paper said, " With evolving teaching models globally and the adoption of technology across educational platforms, it has become paramount to use technology-enhanced approaches to address educational priorities that would be safe, effective, and scalable." The Peninsula explained that the teachers now need technology and AI-powered services to increase the support available to students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and others who could benefit from greater adaptivity and personalization in digital tools for learning. The paper pointed out that school kids will be introduced to these services from an early age, building a tech-savvy generation accustomed to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
