Saudi Green Initiative to Participate in World Ocean Day Events

Riyadh, June 07, 2023, SPA -- The Saudi Green Initiative marks the World Ocean Day, which is observed annually on June 08, under this year's theme "Planet Ocean: Tides are Changing".
The event aims to raise awareness about the need to protect the world's oceans and preserve precious marine life. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia envisages protecting 30% of its land and marine areas under the Saudi Green Initiative.
Programs carried out under the umbrella of the Saudi Green Initiative support marine conservation efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, such as of Red Sea turtles, and are working with key players to develop strong waste management and to remove plastic from the Kingdom's seas.
In 2021, the Kingdom joined the Global Oceans Alliance, an international organization dedicated to preserving marine life in the oceans. The alliance's main goal is to protect at least 30% of the world's oceans by 2030 by expanding marine protected areas.
