Coloplast Malaysia Teams Up With Home Nursing Providers To Support Stoma Patients
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 26 (Bernama) -- Coloplast Malaysia has teamed up with Home
Nursing Providers Sdn Bhd to provide post-surgery consultation and professional
home care services to stoma patients in Malaysia.
In a statement on Monday, general manager for Asia Emerging Markets at
Coloplast, Patrick Wong, said the company has chosen to work with Home Nursing
Providers because it was equally committed to offer personalised professional
home care for patients.
The company said its community assistance initiative in Malaysia comprised a
two-pronged approach -- Coloplast Care Centre and the Coloplast Careline.
"For patients who are unable to travel to the care centre, Coloplast’s
partnership with Home Nursing Providers' home care service is a convenient
solution.
"This service is fully managed by professionally trained nurses who are
experienced with stoma care and is available throughout Malaysia," it said.
The Coloplast Care Centre, located on the 25th floor at PJX, offers the
required privacy for visitors for a free consultation, while the public could
gather information on stoma or ostomy care through its careline 1300-22-8486.
"Ostomy, a surgical procedure, involves removing all or part of one’s
intestine or bladder due to a medical condition, while the opening that is
created is called a stoma," said Coloplast Malaysia.
It said an opening was surgically created in the abdomen for body waste to
pass through, and in Malaysia, it was typically colorectal cancer that led to an
ostomy surgery.
"An ostomy surgery will require a stoma bag to hold body waste. This bag is
essentially a container that is kept constantly in position to hold the said
waste," it said.
