Educational grants to first-course students
Astana, September 03 2009, Khabar – Excellent students that earlier studied at chargeable departments, have also received a good stimulus. Grant from the republican commission gives not only education free of charge but also some advantages. First-course student Damira Bespayeva is very happy because will study at Medical University of Astana free of charge due to receiving educational grant. The Khamidullins economized 300 000 tenge.
Kamatai Khamidullin, parent of grant owner:
- The moral factor is very important because it gives stimulus to study during such difficult period of time. Of course, all this is care of our President and parents of 1,5 000 students of Kazakhstan feel it. And I think they will comprehend and value such important factor.
Over 1,5 000 students from 65 state and private Universities have received educational grants.
Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Minister of Education and Science of RK:
- From now on they will not pay for higher education, secondly, they will receive scholarships about 10 000 tenge and 15% for excellent studying. They will also receive money twice a year for transport expenditures.
The republican commission distributed grants and it included representatives of Ministry of Education and Science, healthcare and rectors of Universities. The main criterion during selection of candidates was excellent studying or high balls while passing Common national testing. 10 000 students received such grants since February 10.
