HRH Premier’s directives to employ doctors hailed

Manama, Mar. 25(BNA): A tribute was paid to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for his directives to employ 240 newly-graduated Bahraini doctors. HRH the Premier gave the directives to launch the two-plan as he chaired the weekly cabinet meeting at the Gudaibiya Palace. Supreme Council for Health (SCH) President Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa hailed the move which, he said, reflects the Premier’s keenness on employing Bahraini doctors. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, HRH the Premier and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, hailing their keenness on employing Bahraini health graduates, particularly doctors. Under the scheme newly-graduated physicians will attend an Arabian Gulf University (AGU) training programme to work at public and private hospitals and health centres of open private clinics. The cabinet decided to amend the criteria and requirements of medical professions, whereby Bahraini holders of master’s degrees in family medicine could open their own family medicine clinics. The Supreme Council for Health, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) were requested to embark on implementing the programme launched by HRH Premier. Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Khalifa said the council spearheaded the national initiative after holding meetings with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the Tamkeen Foundation and the governmental and private health institutions. "The initiative reflects the National Health Plan (2016-2025) which focuses on training human resources in the field sector and attracting qualified doctors to work at hospitals and health educational institutions", he said. He said that the coordination team, which was set up by the Supreme Council for Health, discussed the initiative aimed to train medical graduates and integrate them into the labour market. He extended thanks to the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and Labour Fund (Tamkeen), hailing the efforts of all parties to elaborate the adequate mechanisms so as to employ medical graduates in the public and private sectors. He stressed keenness on implementing the directives of the Government, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa to train and employ medical graduates, underlining cooperation with relevant authorities to give the priority in employment in the public and private sectors. He said that the National Health Insurance Scheme (Sehati) would open new horizons to develop health investments and create opportunities for Bahraini doctors and health professional graduates.
