Hungary opens exhibition of Azeri cartoonists
Budapest, June 23 (AzerTAc). An exhibition entitled “Azerbaijan caricature art” has been organized by Azerbaijan Embassy in Hungary, Azerbaijan Cartoonists Union and Uypest Art Gallery here.
The exhibition featuring about 60 art pieces of painters was dedicated to the 150th jubilee of Azerbaijani satiric poet Mirza Alakbar Sabir.
Opening the ceremony, Azerbaijani ambassador Vilayat Guliyev provided information on the national cartoon traditions starting with popular “Molla Nasraddin” magazine.
He underlined that cartoons printed in “Molla Nasraddin” magazine reflexes realities not only in Azerbaijan, but also Near East and Middle Asia.
Head of Uypest Art Gallery István Gelléri said that examples of Azerbaijani cartoon art impressed him and his colleagues.
Participants handed over colorful booklets in Azerbaijani, English and Hungarian languages.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition brought together Hungarian artists, representatives of relevant bodies, diplomatic corps accredited to the country and mass media.
The exhibition will last two weeks and the exposition is expected to demonstrate in other cities of Hungary.
