IR Iran wins ozone layer protection title for 2nd consecutive year

Tehran, Sept 17, IRNA -- Islamic Republic of Iran won the plaque of honor for the second consecutive year in protection of ozone layer from the United Nations. Vice President and Head of the Environment Protection Organization Mohammad Javad Mohammadizadeh received the plaque of honor on behalf of Iran from the UN representative at the ceremonies held on the occasion of 25th anniversary of Montreal Protocol and Ozone World Day. The UN plaque of honor is the result of joint cooperation between the Environment Protection Organization and other governmental organizations and ministries working in the field of fulfilling Iran's commitments a mentioned in Montreal Protocol and Iran's conspicuous role in ozone layer protection for future generations. Gradual reduction and elimination of consumption of ozone layer according to scheduled program as approved by the protocol for different categories of corrosive elements of ozone layer are among the objectives of the protocol.
