Mongolian ethical hackers become Asia’s best

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Mongolian team of six ethical hackers September 19 became the Asian champions beating some 170 countries from the region at the Global CyberLympics Hacking Championship in Atlanta, USA, reports the Mongolnews agency. After that, the HAWK team, consisted of the information assurance professionals from the Mongolian National Data Center, became the ninth in the World Finals Competitions, leaving some 650 groups behind. At the event organized as a part of a global search to identify experts, who can help strengthen security systems of countries, the Mongolian team topped Asian countries like India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Malaysia at all three challenge rounds of forensic, computer network defense and pen test. Global CyberLympics is an international online cyber security competition, dedicated to finding the top computer network defense teams. It tests the skills of information assurance professionals, in teams of 4 to 6 people in the areas of ethical hacking, computer network defense and computer forensics. The event aspires to create an opportunity for ethical hacking to be accepted, practiced and demonstrated without any discrimination, across all geographical boundaries – for the purpose of understanding what it takes to protect and secure critical information and assets. One key initiative for Global CyberLympics is to foster an environment that creates child online protection through education.
