SCW Secretary-General appreciates approval of Bahrain's proposal to form GCC women's affairs committee

Manama, May 16 (BNA): Hala Al Ansari, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), اhas expressed Bahrain's appreciation for efforts made by the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) in response to the Kingdom's proposal to form GCC committee for women's affairs.

Al-Ansari was speaking on the occasion of the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Women's Affairs in the GCC states held in Muscat, Oman.

Al Ansari expressed hope that the meeting would serve as a reliable starting point to establish the committee, which will focus improving cooperation among the relevant national authorities through the exchange of expertise regarding women's advancement in the GCC countries.

"The tasks assigned to the committee demonstrate the interest of the leaderships of the GCC countries in the important status of women in our GCC countries, which is reflected in the total gains of women advancement," Al Ansari said.

Shaikha Deena bint Rashid Al Khalifa, Assistant Secretary-General of the SCW, represented the Kingdom in the first meeting of the Standing Committee for Women's Affairs in the GCC countries in Oman.
