South Korean Company Plans To Invest In Malaysia's Aerospace Valley Project

SEREMBAN (Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), April 6 (Bernama) -- A South Korean company is planning to invest in Malaysia’s aerospace project for the installation of light aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) through Negeri Sembilan state's Aerospace Valley (NSAV) in Negeri Sembilan.

State investment, industrialisation, entrepreneurship, education, and human capital committee chairman Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek said the matter was made known during recent discussions with International Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

“We received the green light from the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the assembly of helicopters in the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 area and are now in discussions with the company from South Korea to install light aircraft dan drones,” he told reporters Wednesday after speaking at the welcoming ceremony for a delegation from China’s Guangxi Department of Commerce.

Mohamad Rafie said 100 local engineers have been undergoing training in Ankara, Turkiye in the last six months as preparation for a skilled and knowledgeable labour force for aerospace-related operations.

He said that a comprehensive development master plan for NSAV has been prepared as an integrated aerospace hub in order to become a leader in the aerospace industry.

He added that a feasibility study has shown that NSAV will be able to attract US$23.61 billion (RM104 billion) in investments and will create 32,000 jobs by the year 2039.

“There is a vast land area that has the potential to be developed as an aerospace hub.

“The total land area is approximately 6,474.9 hectares (16,000 acres) which is 10 times bigger than the Toulouse Aerospace Valley. NSAV is very well connected via the main airport and the main seaport of the country,” he said.
