Speaker meets Egyptian counterpart

Manama, Mar. 14 (BNA): Speaker of the Council of Representatives, President of the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Ahmed bin Salman Al-Musallam, received here today the Speaker of Egypt's House of Representatives, Dr. Hanafy Ali Gebaly, and his accompanying delegation, who are participating in the 146th IPU Assembly, currently held at the Exhibition World Bahrain.

During the meeting, attended by the Egyptian Ambassador to Bahrain, Yasser Shaban, the two sides affirmed the depth of the fraternal Bahraini-Egyptian relations, which are progressing steadily across various fields thanks to the constant care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt.

They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the secretariat generals of Bahrain's Council of Representatives and Egypt's House of Representatives, as well as supporting bilateral coordination and complementarity, through activating the role of parliamentary diplomacy.

Dr. Hanafy Ali Gebaly commended the kingdom’s successful hosting of the 146th IPU Assembly, noting that the success is a source of pride for all Arab parliamentarians.
