Spokesperson For Qatar's Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Participates In Event On Gulf's Growing International Role
Doha, June 09 (QNA) - Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammad Al Ansari participated in an event titled "Small States, Great Power? The Challenges of A Global Gulf," hosted by the Doha Forum and the Rome MED – Mediterranean Dialogues and organized by the Center for International Policy Research (CIPR) and the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) with the participation of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Middle East Council on Global Affairs. The event included holding three closed working sessions and a public panel in the presence of several officials, academics, and experts in international affairs and human studies. In a speech at the panel, the Advisor to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the participants in the dialogue event, expressing hope that the event would be the first experience upon which other experiences could be built in the important dialogue between the Gulf and Europe. Dr. Al Ansari said that small countries have, in recent years, had growing influences on various aspects of international politics, pointing out that the countries of the Gulf region, which have a limited geostrategic size, have particular advantages and have a much greater economic, political, social, humanitarian and media influence compared to the middle powers in the region and the world. The event focused on three foreign policy dynamics to assess the Gulf's growing international role. The first session - based on the experience of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 - discussed the possibilities offered by major sporting events as a tool for public diplomacy. The second session dealt with humanitarian aid and discussed the role of humanitarian diplomacy in global affairs and the increasing interest of the Gulf states in the current crises, especially in their close neighborhood. The third session focused on the role of cooperation in the economy and energy fields of the Gulf countries. (QNA)
