20th Asian Handball Championship: Qatar Qualifies for Main Round

Damam, January 20 (QNA) - Qatar handball team qualified for the main round of the 20th Asian Men's Handball Championship, after beating the UAE 22-17 at the end of the Group C matches of the group stage of the championship. Held in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the championship continues until Jan. 31 and qualifies for the world handball championship in Poland and Sweden in 2023. The Qatari team raised its tally with this victory to six points, leading the Group C, to advance to the main round competitions that start on Saturday in the first group, along with Uzbekistan (second in Group D), the first team of Group A and second team of Group B. Qatar had won its first match against Oman 31-14 and defeated Iraq in the second match 37-22. Iraq also qualified for the main round after defeating Oman 31-29 today in the other match from the same group. (QNA)
