43 Divers Competiting At FINA Diving Grand Prix 2016
KUCHING (Sarawak, Malayisa), Oct 21 (Bernama) – The three-day Fina Diving Grand Prix 2016 started at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre in Petra Jaya here Friday with 43 divers from eight nations taking part.
The tournament was officially officiated by Sarawak Youth, Sports and Solidarity Minister Michael Manyin Jawong.
Also present were Sarawak Assistant Minister for Youth, Sports and Solidarity Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Fina representative Eric Brooke and Malaysia’s diving diva Pandelela Rinong.
Friday’s event are the men’s 3m springboard, women’s 10m platform with the men’s 3m springboard and women’s 10m platform finals.
Saturday will be the women’s 3M springboard, 10m men’s platform synchro finals and women’s 3m springboard semifinals while the third day will be the finals of the women’s 3m springboard, men’s 3m springboard and the women's 10m platform synchro.
In the final day of the tournament are the men’s 10m platform preliminary round, women’s 3m springboard synchro, men’s 10m platform and final of the men’s 10m platform.
Apart from Malaysia, which is sending ten divers, the other nations participating in the tournament are the United States which is sending six divers, Australia (four), Canada (five), China (12), Hong Kong (two), Russia (two) and Singapore (two).
This is the first time this world standard event is being outside of Kuala Lumpur.
