ADLQ Proud of Qatar Festival Role

Doha, February 23 (QNA) -- The newly established Anti-Doping Lab Qatar (ADLQ) is proud to be participating in the Health and Anti-Doping Awareness Campaign at the AFC U-14 Festival of Football currently underway in the Qatari capital. ADLQ, the first specialised laboratory of its kind in the Middle East, feels it’s taking part in the campaign amidst a grassroots and youth educational football festival is a good chance to teach young athletes about the dangers of doping. "It is only natural that the ADLQ takes part in the current Health and Anti-Doping Awareness Campaign held during the U-14 Football Festival organised by the by Asian Football Confederation in Qatar," says a press release issued by ADLQ. "Despite the fact that we are officially opening in 2015, ADLQ management believes that the event is a good chance to interact with the public in the sports sector. It is the perfect chance to teach younger athletes about doping and its effects. "Through our stand in AFC with Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre and the Qatar Anti- Doping Commission, ADLQ is able to communicate directly with the players and explain to them how doping could end their careers and in some cases their lives." A health and anti-doping awareness corner has been set up at the players waiting area at the main venue of the annual educational festival, the Technical Stadium, where players have the opportunity to visit while waiting or resting for their next matches. ADLQ, under Aspetar, shares with the players’ accurate and current information to encourage them to think critically and make the wise choice of avoiding doping in any form. Anti-doping is an important endeavour by the AFC in the quest to promote fair play and health and the campaign is set to be an early platform to encourage young football players to inculcate the good habits of living healthily and playing fairly.
