AFC Champions League: Shenhua Edges Past Peth Glory 2-1

Doha, November 18 (QNA) - China's Shanghai Shenhua defeated Wednesday Australias Perth Glory 2-1, in the match that took place at Education City Stadium in Doha.
Peng Xinli opened the scoring in the 7th minute, with his Yu Hanchao doubling the score 31 minutes later. Jonathan Aspropotamitis scored a consolation for Glory nine minutes from time.
Shenhua started the game strong; Zhu Jianrong found space down the left flank and picked out Peng, who dispatched the ball past Tando Velaphi to give the Chinese side the lead. The Australian side was better after that but could not capitalize. Shenhua compounded Glory's misery when China international Yu played a one-two with Peng and struck the ball past Velaphi again who could have done better.
Perth Glory came down the tunnel for the second half highly-motivated as they looked to get something from the match. They came close in the 51st minute but had to settle for a consolation 30 minutes later courtesy of an Aspropotamitis thunderbolt that gave the Australian side hope that ultimately didn't materialize.
Tokyo FC leads the group with four points from two matches, followed by Shenhua who collected three points during the same number of matches. Ulsan Hyundai are third with one point, while Perth Glory are yet to pick up a point.
Next game will take place Saturday when Shanghai Shenhua meets Ulsan Hyundai. (QNA)
