Agut: I'm at my Best in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open
Doha, February 15 (QNA) - Bautista Agut affirmed his constant desire to participate in the Qatar ExxonMobil Open Tennis Championships, which annually receives distinguished participation from the top ranked players in the world.
Second seed Bautista Agut sounded confident ahead of his first match tomorrow. The Spaniard will face the winner of the match involving former champion Andy Murray who is playing with a wildcard and Japans Taro Daniel scheduled for today.
The Spanish player, who won the Qatar Championship in 2019, expressed his happiness to be in Qatar and participate in the tournament again, the 33-year-old Davis Cup winner for Spain in 2019, lifted the Qatar ExxonMobil Open three years ago before losing to Georgias Nikoloz Basilashvili in final last year.
Bautista Agut said the Doha field had many players with potential for winning the title this week. Shapovalov is joined by two-time Qatar winner Murray, former US Open champion Marin Cilic of Croatia and defending champion Basilashvili.
"Its also a very special 250 event. they always get really good players in the draw, and its very special to be here," Bautista Agut said.
When asked about Spains chances at the Qatar FIFA World Cup later this year, Batista Agut said: "Yes, I think they (Spains football team) are doing very well. Its a very young team. I think Luis Enrique is a great coach. Hes doing a great job just wishing them a great event at the World Cup in Qatar." (QNA)
