Ahmed Saif Achieves Qatar's First Victory in IBSF 2022 World Snooker Championship

Doha, March 06 (QNA) - Qatari cueist Ahmed Saif achieved the first Qatari victories in the first round of the IBSF 2022 World Snooker Championship organized by the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation (QBSF), with the participation of 62 players representing 29 countries. Seif's victory came at the expense of his Sri Lankan rival, Mohamed Rekaz, with a score of (4-0) in the match that took place between them this evening, in the first round of Group H matches. The Qatari player presented a strong display and dominated the match from start to finish, winning in four consecutive games in a time that did not exceed two hours. As for the rest of the results of Qatars players on the first day, it was logical considering their confrontation with the world and Asian champions, as Issa Al Kubaisi lost to Indias Aditya Mehta (0-4) in the seventh group, and Khamis Al Obaidli lost to Pakistani Muhammad Asif (zero-4) in the first group And Muhanna Al Obaidly lost to Cheung Ka Wai, the champion of Hong Kong (1-4) in the third set. Mansour Al Obaidli also lost to the Iranian Amir Sarkhosh with a score of (0-4) in the fifth group, and Mohammad Al Binali lost to the Iranian Siyavosh Mozayani with a score of (1-4) in the sixth group. The matches of the first round of the Men's World Championship will continue tomorrow (Monday), the first and second from each group will advance to the 64th round of the tournament, which will be held in the knockout system, and up to the final round. As for the Asian Women Snooker Championship, which is held in conjunction with the World Championships, the semi-finals were determined after the rise of two players from Thailand, one from India, and one from Mongolia. In the two semi-final matches, Thailand's Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan overcame her Indian rival AMEE KAMANI (3-1), while the other Thai's Nutcharat Wongharuthai beat her Mongolian rival Narantoya Bayarsaikhan (3-0).
