Al-Arabi Tops Handball League

Doha, March 18 (QNA) - Al-Arabi takes the top in the Qatari men's handball general league, after its victory over Al-Ahli with a score of 34-23, in the match played today at Duhail Sports Hall, in the start of the 7th round of the league. The first half was close to the level between the two teams, as it ended with Al-Arabi ahead of Al-Ahli by one goal 12-11, before Al-Arabi dominated the course of the second half and widened the goal difference to 11 goals. Al-Arabi raised his score to 18 points at the top of the standings, while Al-Ahly's balance became 14 points in fourth place. In the second match, Al-Duhail beat Al-Rayyan, 32-24. Al-Rayyan had finished the first half ahead, 13-12, but Al-Duhail came back strongly in the second half in which the club imposed superiority to clinch the victory in its favor by eight goals, raising his score to 16 points in second place, while Al Rayyan became 14 points in fifth place. In a third match, which was also held today, Al Shamal defeated Al Khor with a score of 30-29. Al-Shamal was the better team in the first half, which ended with a four-goal lead 17-13, before Al-Khor snatched the advantage in the second half and narrowed the difference, but without being able to adjust the result in their favor. With this victory, Al Shamal have 11 points in seventh place compared to 5 points for Al Khor in tenth place.
