Al Ittihad defeats Iran`s Persepolis in ACL

JEDDAH,May 24(MNA)- Al Ittihad of Saudi Arabia defeated Iran’s Persepolis and booked a place in the quarter final stage of the AFC Champions League on Wednesday. In the match held in Jeddah’s Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium, Al Ittihad football team beat Persepolis 3-0. Naif Hazazi gave the host a 36th-minute lead from the penalty spot. Faouzi Abdelghani extended Al Ittihad’s lead just before the interval after Persepolis’ defenders made mistakes in the penalty area. The Iranian team put under pressure Al Ittihad in the second half but failed to score a goal. With three minutes remaining, Abdoh Autef made it 3-0 and Al Ittihad advanced to the next stage.
