The Arab Football Association Announces End of Arrangements for Arab Cup U-20 Championship

Riyadh, June 09 (QNA) - The Arab Football Association announced the completion of all arrangements for the launch of the seventh edition of the Arab Cup for U-20 teams, which will start in Egypt on June 20 and continue until July 6. Today, the Arab Federation for the Game stated on its official website that the Federation's General Secretariat had completed all the arrangements for the tournament with the organizing committee. Sixteen teams are participating in the tournament. The teams were divided in the recent draw into four groups, where the first included teams / Egypt Niger, Mauritania, Algeria / and the second / Morocco, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Djibouti / while the third included / Senegal, Lebanon, Iraq, Comoros / and the fourth group / Tunisia, Yemen, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan /. The first edition of this tournament was held in Morocco in 1983, where the Iraqi team won, while the Saudi team won the second edition that was held in Algeria in 1985, and in 1989 the tournament was held in Iraq and the Moroccan team won. After an absence of 22 years, the tournament returned again in 2011, where it was held in Morocco and won by its team. Jordan also hosted the 2012 edition, which was won by Tunisia, while Senegal won last year's edition of the tournament that was held in Saudi Arabia. (QNA)
