Aspire Academy Online Training Boosts Youth Coaches Job Skills
Doha, February 20 (QNA) - Grassroots and youth football coaches have gone hi-tech when they began S2S, an online coaching and training programme, at the AFC U-14 boys' Festival of Football here.
Instructor from Norway Tor Ahlgren taught the S2S (Secrets to Success) Course at the Aspire Academy for the coaches whose teams from the West region of Asian Football Confederation (AFC) were participating in the two-week festival.
The one-day workshop held Sunday enhanced the coaches' knowledge and experience and helped to introduce new scientific methods of leaning and better communication to be implemented in their coaching and training activities for young people.
The S2S programme also sought to boost the skills of the coaches in learning through the Internet, a modern educational method of learning.
AFC Project Manager Dr. Shamil Kamil encouraged the participants to take advantage of the opportunity to gain new methods of learning as well as to utilise scientific methods in their training tasks, and urged the participants to have full interaction with the instructor and do a lot of practices.
The next programme in the Festival today is the Managers' Meeting which will aim to explain the Festival's objectives, technical and refereeing matters. The meeting will be followed by Skill Tests for the young players on February 23.
The annual grassroots and youth football extravaganza offers educational opportunities for players, coaches, referees, medical officers, physiotherapists, AFC Project Future Coach programme hopefuls and the host association's local organising committee (LOC) and management.
This year, the Festival is held in Qatar for the West region from February 12 to 25; for the Central region in Pakistan from April 2 to15; for Eastern region in China from April 16 to 29 for; for Southern region in Nepal May from 10 to 25 and for Asean region in Malaysia from May 21 to June 3. (QNA)
